What flavour cakes are available?

Vanilla A light vanilla sponge, filled with
buttercream and strawberry jam (optional).
Chocolate A light chocolate sponge, filled with
chocolate buttercream and strawberry jam (optional).
Lemon A light lemon infused sponge,
filled with lemon curd and lemon buttercream.
Coffee A light sponge with a hint of coffee,
filled with coffee buttercream.
Fruit/Spice A traditional rich moist fruit cake soaked in brandy.

All cakes are covered in soft fondant icing.
If you are having more than one tier, each tier can be a different flavour.

Cupcakes are available in Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon and Coffee.
(Minimum of 12 cupcakes per flavour)

Do you use free range eggs in your cakes?

We use good quality ingredients, pure butter and free range eggs,
to make sure your cake tastes as good as it looks.

Do you cater for people with special dietary requirements?

Unfortunately we do not make free from cakes.

Allergen Information

In accordance with the food allergen labelling rules defined by the Food Standards Agency, out of the 14 allergens, the following are/may be in a cake order:

Sulphur Dioxide (which is a preservative found in some dried fruit) Fruit cake
Fish (Fish gelatin) Cakes/cupcakes decorated with silver balls/sprinkles

If the cake is very colourful, the following may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children: E102, E104, E110, E122, E124, E129.

All glitter/dust used is labelled as ‘edible’.

Unless otherwise specified, jam used as part of cake filling is strawberry jam.

These figures are based on standard portion sizes of 1"x1" by depth of cake for fruit, and 2"x1" by depth of cake for sponge. Cakes are approximately 3" deep.

Due to the unique nature of our novelty cakes, we do not offer exact dimensions as each
cake is shaped freehand, however we can create a cake to meet the number of
portions you require.

How far in advance should I order my cake?

To avoid disappointment it is better to book your cake in plenty of time.
However, we can sometimes fit cakes in at short notice.
We usually require two months notice on celebration, christening and novelty cakes.
We recommend wedding and civil union cakes are ordered at least three months in advance. Though we advise you to order as early as possible to guarantee availability.

You will always be given order confirmation. Please check it and notify us if anything is not correct. On receiving your order confirmation we will send you an invoice.
Any alterations to the original order must be confirmed in writing and may be subject to an additional charge. Late amendments to orders may be possible, and every effort will be made to accommodate changes, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Can I order a cake based on my own ideas?

For bespoke cakes, please give as much detail as possible. The final product will be an interpretation of the information given. Therefore any photographs or pictures are welcome.

Can I hire a cake stand and knife?

Specialized wedding cake stands, cupcake stands and knifes can be hired from £5 each.
A deposit is required per item. This is fully refundable on the safe return of all items, within three days of the special occasion.
If you have any difficulties in returning the item(s) within the specified time, please contact us, as it may be possible for the hire period to be extended. Subject to availability.

How can I pay for my cake?

We accept cash, personal cheques (made payable to Miss J Simpson and with guarantee card), postal orders and bank transfers. Though cheques, postal orders and bank transfers must
be paid with sufficient time for funds to clear before delivery.

We require a £20 or 20% non-refundable deposit (whichever is greater), on all celebration and novelty cakes. The balance is due on delivery.
We require a minimum £50 non-refundable deposit, on all wedding / civil union cakes. The balance is due two weeks prior to delivery.
We require a £10 or 20% non-refundable deposit (whichever is greater), on all cupcake orders. The balance is due on delivery.

How do I store my cake?

All cakes should be stored in a cool, dry place on a flat sturdy surface.
We advise you, not to put uncut cakes in the fridge, as it may affect the icing.
Sponge cakes are best eaten within two days, after delivery.
Fruitcakes can be kept for several months.
Store any leftover cake in an airtight container.
We recommend cakes are stored in their original box until the celebration day,
especially if they need to be transported.

What if I need to cancel my order?

If for any reason you need to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible.
There will be no refund on celebration/novelty cakes cancelled less than
7 days prior to delivery.
There will be no refund on wedding cakes cancelled less than 14 days prior to delivery.

What if I'm not happy with my cake?

All cakes should be inspected carefully before accepting them. If you notice an error after accepting your cake, please contact us as soon as possible so we can do our best to resolve the problem. If we have made an inscription error this can usually be corrected on the same day.
Complaints are rare, so we take them very seriously. Some complaints may require further investigation and an immediate refund may not always be possible.
Cakes, or part of cakes, must be returned within three days to ensure we are able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint.
The maximum refund we offer is the value of the cake and delivery. Further compensation is not available.

Will you pass on my details to anyone else?

We will not pass any of your details on to a third party,
unless you have requested us to do so.
